hi everyone,

hope you are doing well. things here are fine. my computer programming career is not so stellar at the moment as the KILI birthday festivities collided with an important deadline in my software design class. so, I managed the best I could, and created a little reality in the computer in which an instance of a bat-unfriendly scenario is prevented, the Sacred Springs in Ayuwa'si are protected from harm, a magical book stops an aircraft operator from meeting his fiery doom, and the KILI radio is wished a very happy birthday. Somewhere in the Katuahnet there are some notes that would help a young learner duplicate the results I got with this reality building project.

I do not know of a free version of a VR software that is especially made to meet the VR modeling needs of permaculture buffs, but anyone who wishes to is welcome to modify the Happy Birthday Kili Radio card in order to make it a better tool for this application.

If someone wants to learn or apply the Alice program to a file modification which would embed a cache of top-notch granite carving tools within the landscape along with a treasure map in the Lakota language, Nantoka-sensei would be extremely happy with you and guarantees you an extra scoop of Legacy at the next Thanksgiving 2.0 meeting if you can bring verifiable proof of your efforts.

Just do me a favor if you will, if you run into my computer programming sensei: Give him a description of the digital dog that ate my homework at the last minute on 02-25-08.

I need to go now but hope you are all doing well. take care, thanks for reading. -Suzy

"Hobo Handshake" CD release party in Floyd on 02-22

from the Desk of Mike G.

---...---

hello, all: The Black Twig Pickers are back at the Floyd Country Store Friday, playing the 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. slot between the Underwood Family and the Clyde Williams band. Put those predictions of freezing rain aside and come out for some dancing. Cover is still one of the greatest bargains in the commonwealth: just $3 for 3 bands. You'd have to go to a punk matinee to beat that ratio, and frankly, I'm not certain the BBQ would be as good.
This Friday will be perhaps a bigger to-do than sometimes because a crate of the new Black Twigs CD, "Hobo Handshake," showed up earlier than expected, making this the first official cd release show.
We'll be having release shows for months, no doubt, but get in early and see what all the fuss is about, ahem.
We'll have more about the cd listed at www.blacktwigpickers.org very soon. Some highlights: First recordings released (besides the 30 or so cdrs passed around last spring) to feature Nathan's washboard; cover by local artist Sue Nees; a few friends & family join in on a few songs, including singer/guitarist extraordinaire Charlie Parr and Shawsville's own dulcimer champ and multi-instrumentalist Tim Thornton.
Alright, that's it for now. Hope to see you Friday.

hi everyone
hope you are having a beautiful day

I believe that Mike Wiley will be performing his Emmett Till presentation at VWCC at 11 pm today. also I think that the Black Twig Pickers are playing this Friday at the Cellar.

if all goes well, Gallery One Eleven is going to be getting a new Trail of No Tears link today. this will provide info on the gallery's opening reception, participating artists, etc.

since the physical location of this venue is situated in the shadow of the Buffalo please search for it that-away if you become lost on the Trail.

my dear friend and mountain-mate Brad has been sharing his work recently through the Intranets. to find Brad's pages via the Katúahnet (which is working to become a non-coal-driven Intranet) please navigate to Brush Sama a few days from now, when I hopefully will have found the time to get a cache of some of Brad's content.

I need to go do other stuff now, hope you are well. thanks for reading. -Suzy

FISHBOWL - the movie

Coming next Monday, February 25th, to the Lyric Theater in Blacksburg:

FISHBOWL

A local homegrown film by Ed Gendron, starring Joe Kelley, Amanda Shumate, and an animated hotdog named "Frank"

Showtimes at 7 and 9pm. Admission is $4 but popcorn is free!

- - - - ... - --

hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well. Brush sama had Kili Radio access last night, there was a very exciting broadcast about upcoming rides. here are the dates I remember. I took some notes and posted them somewhere, when I get time I will put them here.

Feb. 25 - KILI Radio celebration ride.
Early May - Cross-reservation ride.

Kili radio enthusiasts will be happy to know that the folks on the radio sounded like they were in very fine spirits, and not at all in the midst of being shot at in cold blood, which is always a fear of mine when Brush sama can't get the Kili radio signal.

No siege over there, as far as I could tell! Always a bonus.

I am getting some incredibly bizarre imaging anomalies happening here:
http://www.stonesculpture.ws/traces/library/111/home.htm

it appears as though Kili radio creates a rhythmic interference with the images on this page. I am curious to know if this is only happening on my computer. this is one of the oddest things I have seen on a computer.

I need to go now but hope you are all well. thanks for reading. -Suzy

ps. if you need, or would like to donate, trail supplies for a young or old rider who dreams of riding with the Lakota at one of these events, bless you! I will post info as soon as I can on how to make this easier for you.

^-_-^ ^-_-^ ~ ~ * * ~ ~ ^.\/.^ ^; ;^

namaste everyone, hope you are well.

things here are fine on the mountain, we got some nice rain last night and it looks like it is going to be lovely weather today. I am busy with nerd school today so don't have much time to do things like share bat art, provide a portion of accurate Porcupine + news, and tell you about the new art venues coming to the Katúahnet this spring; however, here is a smidgen of all the above.

first, some bat art.

^-_-^ ^-_-^

this is a "bat pal" string which is intended to indicate two happy, un-molested and un-homeless bats who are friends, hunting pals, and/or roommates. (this string is good feng shui!)

^.\/.^ ^; ;^

above is a "Little Bat" string which is used to illustrate a story from the Tlameha people's Trail of No Tears.

X

^ ~ * * ~^ ^ ~ * * ~^ ^ ~ * * ~^
^ ~ * * ~^ ^ ~ * * ~^ ^ ~ * * ~^ ^ ~ * * ~^ ^ ~ * * ~^

This is a "horde of terrified and/or disgusted Tlameha people fleeing from noise or stink pollution" string. ("X" marks the noise and/or stink pollution.) This string is very handy for mapmakers looking to provide folks with data on some of the less visible aspects of certain realms. I did not have time to make the horde very big; this is just a truncated version.

I hope you will not hesitate to crib these strings for use in your own maps etc. or make your own fun strings! a new Katúahnet art project is happening soon to test Tlameha Superstring Theory, and your bat could be included!

now here is the deal with the Porcupine news. I cannot get access to KILI radio, the only source I know for reliable real-time news from Porcupine and the Wounded Knee area. it bothers me very much to not have the ability to know right away what is going on in that realm. However, I can tell you that a KILI Radio ride and walk are happening on Feb. 25. kiliradio.org has details.

if you are a Katúahnet reader who has the ability to navigate to the Pine Ridge to help celebrate KILI radio's 25th anniversary this 02-25, please consider becoming a Shouseki certified news router and/or library transport associate before you go.

after the walk-ride on 02-25 you will automatically get a T-Shirt from the radio station, but if you get your Shouseki certification before you go you will be entitled to lots more benefits & prizes.

now here is a bit of news from the art scene in Katúah. on 02-29-08 a leap day party is happening at 111 W. Main Street in Floyd. an invite will be posted to the Katúahnet soon. I hope you will consider attending if you are curious to network with other folks who are pursuing Shouseki credentials etc.

if you happen to be someone who has ever played the role of the Giant Stink and Noise X, as shown above, don't hesitate to attend the party anyway. the Shouseki people have promised not to bring their hordes of traumatized bats in order to give folks in your situation a better chance to smooth things over with the public.

if you wait until the opening of Ayuwa'sifest to commune with the public it may be too late to get a fair trial, so please don't say you were never warned.

bye, have a beautiful day, thanks for reading. -Suzy

hi everyone, hope you are having a lovely day.

here is a happy valentine's day story from Katúah. I hope you and your family had a great 2-13 and a romantic 2-14.

KILI radio does not play on my computer at this time, and I am hoping that I can find out the cause of this soon... I will leave the links up until I figure out what the problem is.

Two important dates to keep in mind: 02-25-08, which is the date of the KILI radio walk/ride, and 09-20-08, the opening date of the festival at Kiva park. I will refine the Katúahnet soon so that it reflects this info.

bye, have a beautiful day, thanks for reading. -Suzy

hi everyone,

check it out yo, a ghost-like white stag is roaming about on the coasts of Scotland.

perhaps you are also interested to know about the half-white doe living in Ayuwa'si. I saw her in early autumn of 2007 right after a visit to a sacred spring there. She looks like a large white & brown speckled goat from a distance. just one more reason to operate your vehicle at safe speeds when driving through that realm.

here is a bit of info on Awi Usdi, the Little Deer, who is little, and pure white, and empowered to afflict a hunter with crippling rheumatism if they fail to ask the forgiveness of their prey.

I need to go now but I hope you have a great day, take care. -Suzy

aloha everybody, hope you are doing well.

my computer room is turning into quite the ikigai plantation over here, what with all the streaming KILI vibe all the time. thanks KILI folks!

nerd school is going well, I am learning about nested tags, machine language, and lots of other fun stuff.

here is something interesting. what does this mean to you?

000

if you compare it to this

111

and you are familiar with the concept of machine language you might infer that the meaning of the first string is that "all switches are off" while the second string represents "all switches on".

if you are thinking, ho hum how boring, I hope that it is simply because this info bears the stink of computers, as opposed to the existential fragrance of a non-binary system like a mountain or a forest. stay wild, friend!

nevertheless I hope my little computer programming lesson will not fail to inspire you to get curious about what happens when you weave human intent into lines of executable code which is leashed to output media.

in any case when all the Katuahnet ikigai switches get thrown to the ON position on Leap Day this year, I hope you won't forget to pass along your wealth of machine language awareness to a fellow human. the ikigai farm you could save might be your own.

bye, namaste, have a blessed day. -Suzy

hello everyone,

hope you are having a wonderful day. below is a bit of music & art news.

The Black Twig Pickers will be performing at the Cellar restaurant in Blacksburg on the evening of February 9. (Twig Picker fans should take note of the fact that March 18, 2008 will mark the date of the release of their newest album, entitled Hobo Handshake).

The Kusun Ensemble is now teaching African dance at the Winter Sun culture center in downtown Floyd. Details can be found at the Winter Sun website.

Folks who visit kizapark.com will find info on the 7th annual Lakota Hemp Days celebration, which will happen on September 20 this year. (Ayuwa'sifest 08 and the Katuahnet Banjo Harmonic Convergence are currently in the planning phases and will not conflict with this date so if you had hoped to attend all three events, this should be possible.)

Also on Leap Day of this year a free public reception will take place at 111 West Main Street in downtown Floyd to celebrate the opening of Gallery 111. I think I am going to be testing out some Trail of No Tears recipes there, as will be a very special event and I want to make sure the occasion is as auspicious as it possibly can be. Please take a look at the art & music news in ideapark to learn a bit more about February 29 festivities being planned at Gallery 111.

I need to go now but hope you are all doing well, take care. -Suzy

hi everyone, I hope you are doing well. I am yo! I have soup access AND KILI radio access, it is most awesome.

I am going to give you a link but please be advised that the Katuahnet vomitoir is not yet functional. so, if you have to go virtual barfola after viewing this link you will be missing some key infrastructure, just so you know.

ok then. good luck.

hi everyone,

hope you are having a beautiful day.

I am!! NOT ONLY do I have access to coffee this morning, I have access to streaming audio from KILI radio, my new favorite radio station. I hope the WUVT people will not be mad with me about this. if they are they should just take some clues from KILI to enrich their programmatic offerings.

here are a few news items from here in Katuah.

folks at the auto plant in Dublin have started striking, the Roanoke Times is providing coverage of the story.

the gallery at 111 W. Main in downtown Floyd is going to open on Leap Day of this year, with a reception on that day to celebrate.

Mike Wiley will be giving a performance at Virginia Western Community College soon, this piece has to do with the life and death of Emmett Till.

I need to go now but will post more info when I can.

bye, thanks for reading, take care. -Suzy
